The Concord-Carlisle High School Class of 1970 has donated $1,970 to the Concord High School/Concord-Carlisle High School Alumni Scholarship Fund administered by The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle. The Scholarship Fund is the largest community-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping the towns’ financially challenged students pursue post-secondary education. The CHS/CCHS Alumni Scholarship was established by The Scholarship Fund in 2010 with gifts from the Concord High School Class (CHS) of 1954 and Concord-Carlisle (CCHS) High School Class of 2005, and later from the Class of 1962. This scholarship is an endowed Named Fund created to honor CHS and CCHS graduates and is awarded to graduates of CCHS.

Presented to the Board of Trustees at its October meeting by Trustee Priscilla White Sturges, the donation is the result of active fundraising by the CCHS Class of 1970 Reunion Committee comprising of David Crockett, Jackie (Buckley) Fearer, John Gardella, Meg Moreau, Paul Murphy, and Priscilla (White) Sturges, all of Concord, and Gail (LaBroad) LaRocca and Susan (Flannery) Leone, both of Carlisle.

Even though the reunion was held a full year late due to the pandemic, of the 343 in the graduating class, more than 100 classmates and guests attended the reunion events on September 10 and 11 in Concord.

“We knew that our classmates would come through generously for the scholarship fund,” said Sturges. “Our 50th Class Reunion in September exceeded all expectations in attendance at the events, as well as donations to the fund before, during, and afterward.”
